- POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design of aviation test and ground support equipment and the respective tooling/fixtures and adapters associated with the equipment. This activity will include pneumatic, hydraulic, sheet metal, structural, and mechanical design and analysis (FEA experience a plus). Strong teamwork and communication skills are required to effectively collaborate with other engineers, manufacturing, quality, and vendors.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include, but not limited to:
- Create mechanical designs, hydraulics schematics, and pneumatics schematics
- Participate in cross functional design reviews
- Create equipment layout drawings
- Review and support the development of manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies
- Create and maintain engineering records in support of quality systems
- Project management (create and maintain accurate schedules and budgets)
- Lead hands-on functional mechanical check-out, equipment validation and demonstration of test equipment capabilities
- Review and support the development of facility layout and drawings
- Ability to travel worldwide up to 20% for customer support, design reviews, installations and startups

- REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (ME, MET or Aerospace preferred).
- Experience in the design of mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, process control, electrical systems and instrumentation
- Practical knowledge of design for manufacturability and value engineering
- Familiar with aircraft component operation, testing, and test system design preferred
- Proven oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely present information, gain buy in and earn commitment to actionable business strategies
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities
- Knowledge of, or experience with, design (GD&T experience a plus)
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)
- Familiarity with Lean, Agile and/or Scrum methodologies is a plus
- Strong foundation in business systems (ERP, MS Office)
