The Project Engineer/Team Lead plays a key role in the successful performance of our projects, satisfaction of our customers and growth of the company. This individual will provide strong and decisive leadership to ensure on-time delivery and meet all customer commitments. Strong engineering background is required to provide technical guidance and support engineers in their decision making. This position requires close collaboration with Manufacturing and Purchasing to meet project budget and schedules. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide direction, guidance and oversight, necessary to ensure the technical success of engineered test equipment projects
  • Work closely with Engineering Team resources to ensure success relative to achieving technical performance, planned milestones on-time and budget performance
  • Guide Project Engineers through formal structured project and design reviews in accordance with established engineering processes
  • Occasional travel to the customer sites to perform facility assessments and to supervise installation and/or startup of test equipment
  • This position requires on-site presence in Bristol, CT to attend daily meetings, trainings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation

  • Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving complex problems
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects on track
  • Strong technical background to effectively communicate specific task requirements to individuals, and to adequately understand the technical output from the technical staff to either challenge or accept the results
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong foundation in PC skills; ERP, MS Office, Microsoft

Experience / Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master’s degree in engineering, engineering management or business administration preferred), with 7+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a management role
  • Must show a career track of progressive engineering leadership roles and strong customer relationships
  • Experience should include roles in developing, deploying and managing engineering processes, applications and oversight
  • Proven oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely present information, gain buy in and earn commitment to actionable business strategies
  • Hands on engineering and project management experience
  • Experience in the design of mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, process control, electrical systems and instrumentation
  • Hands on troubleshooting and mechanical skills
  • Practical knowledge of design for manufacturability and value engineering
